This SAVE project concerns the application of tools for replacement of domestic boilers in France, The Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. The project has been carried out by DTI (DK), DGC (DK), VITO (B), Gastec (NL) and COSTIC (F).

Due to national differences, e.g. different types of appliances, different education levels of installers and availability of laboratory measurements, it is not evident to perform harmonised actions on replacement in the European Union.

Instead national actions was defined, taking into account local conditions and needs. The actions included:

• A general survey on tools and methodologies for replacement of oil- and gas-fired boilers in the European Union.
• National pilot actions aimed at replacing boilers – definition and evaluation.
• Recommendation for European replacement and feedback to tool developers.
